Sun Safety First
Before we dive into the excitement, make sure that you always protect your Munchkin from the sun's rays and wear lots of child-safe sunscreen, your widest-brimmed hats and your best sunglasses. Also stay in the shade during the hottest times too! βοΈπβ±οΈποΈπΆοΈ
Remember to adjust the activities to suit your Munchkinβs age, interests and abilities and always supervise your Munchkins around water and rocks. Always ensure the safety of materials used during these activities.
1. Outdoor Playtime
Summer is the perfect time for us to explore the great outdoors. We get so much fun taking the messy play outside! We love putting our day to day toys into a different setting, perhaps placing them in a sand-tray or even some dyed rice, cornflour or other taste-safe messy play ingredients.
This makes our old toys more fun and helps us to develop our motor skills and imagination skills.
Water play is also super fun, we can take all different shaped containers and utensils out to explore with, or even give our dolls and teddies a bath time splash with lots of bubbles which is one of our favourites things to do!
2. Nature Walks
We take advantage of the beautiful weather with nature walks. Whether itβs a hop, skip and jump through the park, a visit to a local garden, or a walk around our own neighbourhood, we love discovering flowers, birds, and bugs. πͺ·πΊπͺΆπ¦ββ¬π
3. Beach
We bring along our favourite beach toys like buckets and shovels for building sandcastles. Remember, always stay safe at the beach and supervise your little ones around water.
4. Picnic Fun
We plan a picnic at our local park or even in our back garden. Mabel π always packs some easy-to-eat finger foods like sandwiches, fruits, and veggies. Oscar 𦧠brings his favourite picnic blanket and some toys, and we enjoy food in the fresh air. It's a super fun and yummy way to spend quality time together.
5. Arts and Crafts
When the sun gets too hot, we toddle indoors for some messy creative fun. We love summer-themed arts and crafts, like making sun hats, painting seashells, or creating nature collages, it keeps us engaged and we let our imaginations fly. It also helps us to develop our motor imagination skills
6. Gardening Together
Gardening is a wonderful activity to share. We help Rachel plant flowers or vegetables. Itβs a hands-on way to learn about nature and the environment. Plus, we love getting our hands and feet dirty!
All this fun helps us to develop our motor skills and imagination skills
7. Story Time Outside
We take story time outside!
Rachel finds us a shady spot under a tree or we set up a cosy reading corner. We always choose books with summer themes to make it even more special.
8. Frozen Treats
We beat the heat with some homemade frozen treats. Sometimes we make ice-pops together using fruit juice and chopped fruits. Itβs a delicious and healthy way to cool down, and we love to help Rachel make them!
